LIFE AND MOTIVATION
Getting back to building The Boar, some of you might have noticed the change of color.
We were always to planning to do so but with a little different time frame.
But first we have to explain a little more to that story.
As it took us 3 days to get into Mexico, denied at the first border(too big) they took pictures and all from the inside, clearly set up for living in it. Still we had to turn around. Second, was where the first one send us turned us around to the commercial side, also after checked inside and out, still, turn around it had to be. Funny part actually was we had to cross back into US again twice. First the regular side where we got checked by a dog for stuff we would have taken from the border? only stood in line is all we did... Found out there had been going something wrong with Lex his visa and had to be done again. Since we could prove that we had done it in Montana and paid for it, all they did was helping us to get back into USA legally. All it took was time. Being retired and all, that we had plenty. Jolanda though was getting fed up with all the troubles and was willing to skip Baja. But we tried again and third time a charm?... Nope, at the commercial side we were refused again, because there were 2 persons in the vehicle and that could not be, according to the officer. Back to USA again. Where the same dog and the same lady check us again! We even had not left the customs property and hadn't had seen or met anyone else then border patrol officers... Time to sleep.
We found a spot on public land, had a great night and the following morning we went to Mexicali East to have that border checked out, which for Jolanda would be the last time she was willing to go for. I myself was hoping to end up behind a huge RV, so they couldn't stop us with an announcement that we would be too big.
Lucky us when we were closing in on the town and had to cross the road to the border, which wasn't our plan at first, I saw a big RV in the distance on the road to the Mexican border. Taking a quick decision, I started following that RV. Approaching the border I finally kept up with the RV which turned out to be an Albertan as well, the gate opened and I followed as close as I could so they wouldn't close the gate on us. The RV in front of us got checked by the officer and was allowed to continue. Our turn, getting checked by the officer and he saw we were from Alberta as well, right away we were asked if we were friend with the first RV? YES, we responded whole heartedly and were allowed to continue. Finally in Mexico on our way to Baja. Plan was to go to Rancho La Bellota. A place what overlanders apparently "have" to stop, and meet with the owner Raoul.
Telling Raoul this story, he came with a decent enough explanation for us: "you look way too commercial(White) and the border patrol doesn't like that.

Why don't you paint it while you are here? I will bring you to Ensenada and we will find some paint".
As said, done so.

We started to scruff the (white) paint put painters tape on the places what we didn't want to paint and got started. Right away we decided to do the bumper and the window spoilers black, as they all had different colors.

So Jolanda took of with those.

I wanted to make a part of the Hogswart logo a kind of "Ghostline" in the paint. I set of, to do just that, while Jolanda started at the cabin.

Then to the side.

3 day's later we were done and exhausted. We had to do it twice as the first time was too thin at places and the cold night had played a trick on us with drying different on some places. But, a nice even sandy color was our reward.

Just to extend the logo lines on the windows and we are done.(for now)

See you next blog!
